What’s the pnc2rnc bike ride?
dnc2rnc march crossing bridge in westport, ctIn late August of this year, a group of cyclists will start a two-week ride from Madison, WI to Saint Paul, MN. The ride will coincide with the end of the People’s Networking Convention (aka the PNC) in Madison and the beginning of the week of demonstrations against the Republican National Convention (aka the RNC) in Minnesota in beginning of September. The ride is inspired by the dnc2rnc march of 2004, a month-long march that began at the Democratic Nation Convention in Boston, MA and ended at the Republican National Convention in New York City. The festive march, also referred to as the Democracy Uprising march, included 70 or so participants and ended in a large welcoming procession in New York City.

From the pnc2rnc website:

The purpose of the GrassRoutes Caravan 2008 is to ride our bikes in a self-supporting village from Madison to the RNC in St. Paul. Village life will highlight volunteerism, performance, and cooperative day-to-day organization. We will follow the rules of the road for non-motorized vehicles and obey all laws to the best of our ability as we ride.

Keep your eyes peeled for the interview next week. In fact, why not just subscribe by rss? Or use the link on the sidebar to receive updates by email?
